Three year old doing number 2 in his nappy every morning

Question posted 09.05.13 // In All Questions, Toddler +

Question:

Hi I don't know what is wrong with my three year old son. He was doing really well on the potty training front, and in fact I had considered removing his nappies at night, but recently he seems to have regressed a little in that every morning when he comes out of his room he has done a poo in his nappy and I don't know what to do. I know he does it after waking up because on the rare occasion when we have had to wake him up for something (e.g. to catch a plane or something) his nappy is always dry so I feel like he's choosing to just let go and poo in his nappy which is gross for us to have to clean up every time and sometimes it leaks in his bed so then we have to clean that up too... We have tried bribery, threats, leaving him in his dirty nappy (!) but nothing seems to help. What to do? Thanks!

My son’s nails keep breaking. What to do?

Question posted 12.03.13 // In All Questions, Toddler +

Question:

Hi - I would like to ask a pediatrician if I should be concerned about some vitamin deficiency because my son has really bad quality nails. They keep chipping and breaking. I try to cut them often, but still, they break so easily. He drinks lots of milk and has a pretty healthy diet for his age (no sodas, no junk food, mostly organic items). Should I have him checked?
