What about when they kill chickens on the streets in front of my house – should I be worried about those? And how can I tell it's more than just a normal flu? Thank you

Question:

Hi, we are thinking of going to Tibet (if we can get the visa) and the travel agent has told me that it is unsafe to travel there with my 3-year old because of the altitude. I understand that the altitude will affect us all, and we will need to be well hydrated and take it easy while we get used to it. But, should I be concerned with my younger child? Thanks!

How to stay on the UK's vaccination schedule once in China? I am moving to Nanchang.

Question posted 29.11.12 // In All Questions, Babies, Toddler +, Life in China

Question:

Hi, I'm wondering if you can help me. I am moving from the UK next May to live in Nanchang. I will be moving with a 3yr old boy and a new born who is due in Feb. I am really worried about vaccinations for my newborn and can't find any information about where I could complete a course of vaccinations in Nanchang, how young I can give a baby vaccinations like rabies and Japanese Encephalitis and how I can keep my 3yr old's boosters up to date. We are planning to be in Nanchang for about 2.5-3 yrs so I would like to stay on the UK's vaccination schedule if possible which I think means having hep A, B, Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and BCG as travel vaccines. Is there a clinic in Shanghai which could help me? At the moment my GP in the UK is advising we have our first set of vaccines in the UK at 8 weeks but won't advise any further as to when we could have the travel vaccinations. Many thanks in advance,
